Known Bugs:
  • When there is only one picture in a folder with no other sub folders, and said folder is chosen as the folder to use, program will hang
  • Auto-Color is considered Experimental as it sometimes sees interesting colors in images
  • Will not work on MS XP

After switching to Window's new OS Vista, I went in search of a good Wallpaper changer.  I could not find one, so I decided to create my own.

This wallpaper changer will monitor your chosen folder and recognize when new pictures are added or old pictures are removed.  It will also recursively drill down through each subsequent folder checking for images.  You can also set how often it rotates the images from 1 minute to multiple days.

Other feature include setting program to start with windows and a progress bar to show when the next wallpaper change will take place.  Also has ability to determine image's main color, and set desktop background color to match.

Requirements:


  • .NET framework (it not on installed, the installer will automatically install it for you)

  • v1.0 Added ability to change image folder location after initial declaration
  • v1.5 Added easy installation wizard, improved visual appearance
  • v2.0 Added Experimental Auto-Desktop Color Chooser, removed various bugs
  • v2.1 Fixed windows Shutdown / program close confirmation
  • v2.2 Fixed tile/center/zoom control
  • v2.3 Added filename in image, still buggy but disableable

Recently made the switch from XP to Vista, and, just like you, my program
stopped working. This program is almost perfect to fill its place.

One feature
I liked about the other program I had was the option to show the file name
(minus extension) in one of the corners of the screen. Sometimes it is nice to
have a title for the artwork that is on the background.

Added your suggestion to the program. It may be slightly quirky, but in most
cases it works the way it is suppose to. I will polish it out in the next

meantime, If anyone is concerned,
My program has been deemed trojan/virus free
by the thousands of other users including PC MAGAZINE ITALIA, nonags, and more.

If you still aren't convinced I can explain what every little step in my
program does and how. just shoot me an email.

Just sent notification to AVG - *** it sure was hard to find any way to contact
them without using postal mail. Anyway, I will keep you posted on the
results.

Fantastic - thanks! A 'stretch to fit preserving aspect ration' would be an
excellent addition - e.g. leaving black (or matched color) boarders either at
each side or top / bottom as required. The current Tile option only shows a
part of the picture (using a 5 megapixel camera as the source). Whereas the
'stretch to fit' can make poeple look odd...

Love it - Feature Request

This is a great tool, I've just had to upgrade to Vista, and this is exactly
what the doc ordered. NFR if you think it's worth it. I would like to see, and
may have to write my own, the Wallpaper Changer able to change at a specified
time. This way a user could have a subdude night wallpaper, and a bright and
cheery day wallpaper.
Love the util!
