Bye Bye Google?

My personal ongoing struggle with Google AdSense begins here...

I have been using Google AdSense now for a few years.  I do not have a hugely popular web page, but I get my share of visitors.  I just recently broke the twenty dollar mark with Google.  This means I have finally accumulated 20.00 in revenue by displaying their advertising on my page for a couple years.  This seems a little too slow for my tastes.  It is far from anything close to supporting my web page.  If I was running my web page as if it were a business I would have closed down long ago.

Google AdSense works by PPC(Pay per click), so when no one clicks an Advertisment, I do not get paid.  Also Google watches closely who clicks my ad and if the same person starts click the ad like crazy, then red flags are raised.  All this is understandable but what web viewers are savy about ads.  They know what an ad looks like, they know where ads get placed.  As a web user, I myself know exactly where ads appear, and how to avoid them.  I even have a plug in, in my browser that hides advertisements when I want it to.

Sometimes when I am browsing, and I see an ad, and it interests me, I actualy do click it.  Which is what lead me to AdBrite.  It seems AdBrite is an advertising company who not only uses PPC method, but also PPV(Pay per view) method as well for banners.  They also allow you to display a link on your site, inviting people to advertise on your site by purchasing ad space.  This seems perfect for me and I have signed up really quick.  Starting soon, Over to the left <----  of my page, you will see their ads.  If you see something that interests you, do click on it and learn more about it - if not, then move on, no harm!

If you are interested in supporting me and what I am doing (making free software) then please purchase ad space on my site, or even contact me for details on how to donate. Another way to support me is to list me on your favorite social bookmarking site such as digg.com or stumbleupon.com .

One last feature that I have found that AdBrite has and Google AdSense seems to lack is the ability to send out payment to you when you want and not when it is easy for the ad company.  For example, Google will never pay me a dime until I have 100.00 accumulated.  At my current rate it will take me 8 more years until google pays me.  AdBrite will pay me whenever I want.

I will post more about my experience with AdBrite vs Google as I have them.

If you want to check out AdBrite, you can click their ad here (and help me at the same time):

Update

Something new I noticed as I was checking my page in IE 6 was that due to my current google ad that was showing at the top of the page, My pages layout was all messed up.  Articles and the bulk of my page content was shoved down a page and a half down and it appeared as if my page was blank until you scrolled down.  Im not sure if this is a Google AdSense issue or a Joomla issue (I have a joomla backend for this site).  Anyway, I will keep you posted as more developments arise.  I have currently disabled the google ads until I solve this issue.
